SYLLABUS FOR PLAY WRITING AND PRODUCTION

1. Associate (ANCMA)

Candidates are required to submit a dramatic work on any topic, which has been both written and produced by the candidate. It may be a work for children or adults, and should last not less than thirty minutes.

2. Licentiate (LNCMA)

Candidates are required to submit a dramatic work, lasting not less than one hour, which has been both written and produced by the candidate. It may be a work for children or adults on any topic, but the work must be wholly that of the candidate. It must be accompanied by a video recording of the work, with a criticism of the production written by the candidate.

3. Fellow (FNCMA)

Candidates are required to submit a dramatic work, of not less than one hour in duration, which has been written and produced by the candidate. It should address a historical, philosophical or social issue, and it must be accompanied by a video recording of the work. The candidate’s submission must include a full synopsis and a criticism written by the candidate, and also a full review of the play, written by a third party.

All entries must be verified by the author and by a third party, with the wording: ‘I, (N,) certify that this is wholly the work of (the author)’ and should be dated accordingly. Candidates will be advised as to whether they have passed or failed, within one month of submission of their entry. Successful candidates will have satisfied the requirements for the diploma at which level they entered, and will be entitled to the appropriate post-nominal letters and academic dress of the College. (Candidates are reminded of the serious consequences of copyright infringement and also of plagiarism.)
