SYLLABUS FOR PLAY WRITING AND PRODUCTION
1. Associate (ANCMA)
Candidates are required to submit a dramatic work on any
topic, which has been both written and produced by the
candidate. It may be a work for children or adults, and
should last not less than thirty minutes.
2. Licentiate (LNCMA)
Candidates are required to submit a dramatic work,
lasting not less than one hour, which has been both
written and produced by the candidate. It may be a work
for children or adults on any topic, but the work must
be wholly that of the candidate. It must be accompanied
by a video recording of the work, with a criticism of
the production written by the candidate.
3. Fellow (FNCMA)
Candidates are required to submit a dramatic work, of
not less than one hour in duration, which has been
written and produced by the candidate. It should address
a historical, philosophical or social issue, and it must
be accompanied by a video recording of the work. The
candidate’s submission must include a full synopsis and
a criticism written by the candidate, and also a full
review of the play, written by a third party.
All entries must be verified by the
author and by a third party, with the wording: ‘I, (N,)
certify that this is wholly the work of (the author)’
and should be dated accordingly. Candidates will be
advised as to whether they have passed or failed, within
one month of submission of their entry. Successful
candidates will have satisfied the requirements for the
diploma at which level they entered, and will be
entitled to the appropriate post-nominal letters and
academic dress of the College. (Candidates are reminded
of the serious consequences of copyright infringement
and also of plagiarism.)
